The problem
Every car arriving at a hub or refurbishment centre has to be checked in and its details confirmed. Done on paper or in a spreadsheet, that is slow, easy to mistype, and invisible to everyone downstream until someone re-keys it — and a mis-typed VIN follows a vehicle through every system it touches afterwards.
What I built
- Built a mobile app for intake at the point the car physically arrives, rather than a desk process afterwards.
- Made VIN scanning the entry point, so the identifier is captured by the camera instead of typed.
- Confirmed vehicle details on the spot, so discrepancies surface while the car is still in front of you.
The outcome
Vehicle intake became a scan rather than a form — feeding clean vehicle identity into the logistics and operations systems downstream.
